Math

Objectives and Goals

Students develop number recognition 1-10, counting 1-10 and an understanding of more/less and how many.  They learn to follow and create a pattern.

Strategies

Children develop basic math understanding by using number lines with stickers (1-1 correspondence) and touch math – learning touch points.  They demonstrate understanding of these key concepts by counting items, building with blocks and making patterns.  The Mimeo Board and Mimeo Table allow us to work with both small groups and large groups to electronically teach the children math skills through application of  Touch Math, patterns, sequencing, sorting, and tracing numbers.

Assessments

Throughout the year student math skills development are recorded.  Teachers work closely with each child to see if they are recognizing numbers and understand “how many” and “more/less.”  Progress reports and report cards are sent home to inform parents of children’s progress.
