Language Arts
Objectives and Goals
The children will be exposed to stories, letters and letter sounds. Activities will help students to strengthen fine motor skills as they develop an understanding of the process and purpose of writing.
Strategies
The children are exposed to the alphabet through songs, games and visuals. The Mimeo Board and Mimeo Table allow us to work in both small group and large group to electronically teach the children to match letters with the corresponding sound, trace letters and listen to stories.
Assessments
Throughout the year the number of letters the children recognize are recorded. Other milestones recorded include recognition of their name and development of fine and gross motor skills. Progress is recorded through progress reports and report cards.
