Winter Basketball 2025-2026

We are excited to be entering another Winter season of basketball here at SBS!
Students entering grades 5 through 8 are eligible to play.
Season Details: The teams are combined with 5/6th grade as well as 7/8th grade for both boys and girls. Each team will practice 2 times per week for 60 minutes inside the Charbonneau Center. The season begins in November with team practice. Games will begin in December and run through early March.
Each team will play 1 game (potentially 2 games on a specific weekends based on the league and number of teams) per weekend over a 10-game schedule, culminating with playoffs. 5/6th and 7/8th Boys compete in the Nativity Boys League on Friday nights or Saturday mornings. 5/6th girls compete in the St. Bernadette Girls Basketball League on Sunday afternoons, and 7/8th girls will play on Sunday afternoons as well, in the Venerini Academy Girls Basketball League.
Practice Schedule: Practice will begin the week of November 17th
Times: Traditionally we have had two 5/6th boy’s teams
BOYS: Monday/Wednesday
5/6th Boys Monday/Wednesday 5:00-6:00pm and 6:00-7:00pm
7/8th Boys Monday/Wednesday: 7:00-8:00pm
GIRLS: TUESDAY/THURSDAY
5/6th Tuesday/Thursday: 5:00-6:00pm
7/8th Tuesday/Thursday: 6:00-7:00pm
Athlete Requirements: For students to be eligible to participate, they MUST have all the required paperwork submitted to the front office by Wednesday, November 12, 2025 - NO EXCEPTIONS.
Students will be given a checklist of paperwork to bring home to be completed and returned.
- Up-to-date physical on file with the school nurse. The physical MUST be within the last 13 months from the start of the first team practice before they are allowed to participate.
- Signed Student Code of Conduct & Parent Code of Conduct
-Permission Slip/Medical Release Form
-Concussion Form (submitted once a year)
-Pre-Participation Form (submitted before the start of each season)
- All students must complete the NFHS Concussion Course (submitted once per school year): Here is the link for the course:

Certificate of Completion for the NFHS Concussion Course. Students are required to watch the online course and pass a series of questions. Upon completion of the test, students will receive a Certificate which they should print out and bring to school for our records to participate this season. This is a policy for all of our sports teams at SBS.
- $50 Registration Fee: Payable by cash or check
(checks made out to St. Bernadette School or SBS)
Standards and Expectations: We will be holding a meeting on Wednesday, October 22nd at 6:00pm inside The Charboneau Center to discuss the standards and expectations for students to be able to compete for SBS as well as cover additional details. This meeting is MANDATORY for all players/parents
intending to play this season.

Parent Volunteers: We depend on volunteer parents to coach the teams and provide gym coverage (gym monitor, admissions table, etc) on game afternoons/nights. Ideally, we are seeking to have a minimum of 2 coaches per team. Volunteer coaches are required to complete a series of steps to assist in any school-related activities. Coaching Requirements:
CORI Check- Yearly (can be completed at school)
Safe Environment Training- Completed once. We will need to submit your name and email address to the diocese, and they will send you an email with a link to complete the training. Once completed, we will need a copy of the certificate of completion.
Fingerprinting-Completed once using IdentoGO www.identogo.com (you will need to bring a copy of the receipt to the school, and they will reimburse you)
