| The main objective of all the Physical Education classes is to facilitate the children in their understanding of the human body’s potential for movement, in order to enjoy a lifetime of physical activity.
A second objective is to instill in the children the need to strive for a life of good physical health, which comes from a balance of proper nutrition; being knowledgeable of health issues and incorporating them into their lives; and by being physically active.
A third objective is for the children to have “FUN”, playing age appropriate games and activities.
Physical Education for the pre-school through the third grade consists of movement exploration skills; locomotor, balance and manipulative skills; music; and age appropriate games and activities.
Physical Education for grades four through eight consists of basic sports skills and lead up games; physical fitness skills; games and activities; age appropriate challenges and group problem solving; and concepts such as teamwork, offense, defense and sportsmanship. |
