In Grades 6, 7 and 8, the focus is on the essential elements of the English language and how these are used. This includes parts of speech and classical origins of words. Emphasis is placed on uses and reasons for correct grammar and punctuation, as well as correct spelling.
The Vocabulary Workshop book is integrated with the Voyages in English textbook and workbook to teach students the elements of writing. As students advance, we delve more deeply into the rules and employ them in writing assignments. The first five minutes of each class consists of writing in some format. |
